Phra Opakut is also known as water fiscal Buddha.

From legendary stories, Phra Opakut was known as a Buddha who is good in attracting wealth.

It is famous especially during ancient Thai, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Nevertheless, Phra Opakut is only often seen made in temples or by monks in  Thai northern area but not other areas.

Story of Phra Opakut

Phra Opakut was born in a rich family in Mathura.

There were three kids in his family and he was the youngest child.

He was ordained as a monk to fulfill his father's promise to a master.

His father had promised to let his child to become a monk if the child is a boy.

However, his two elder brothers refused to ordain as monks, thus he had to commit this responsibility.

At first, Phra Opakut refused to accept his father's request.

He only wanted to be an ordinary businessman.

One day, Phra Opakut's father had let him looking after the shop.

Surprisingly, the business on that day was very good.  Phra Opakut's good fortune had flourished the business.

At the same day, the master whom his father met in last few years had came to visit their store.

He told some Buddha stories to Phra Opakut. Phra Opakut was fascinated by the stories.

The master mentioned about the agreement between his father and him after seeing Phra Opakut had fate with Buddha. 

At the day itself, Phra Opakut decided to ordain as a monk.

After Phra Opakut became a monk, he focused hard on studying Buddha scripture.

Later he became a teacher in teaching Buddha scripture and had up to 18000 disciples.

He had the most disciples during that time.

 Then he practiced to 

have the ability to move arbitrarily everywhere
he can go and anywhere he wanted to.

Therefore, he was the first Buddha apprentice
with magic Buddha power.
Besides the ability of moving anywhere he want, he also
have the ability to stop motion of animals or sitting on the water.

To enshrine Phra Opakut, you need to prepare:

 1. 3 incense sticks
             2. yellow flowers or roses
   3. a pair of candles
       4. a cup of pure water

Effects

To enshrine Phra Opakut can bring you good luck,
prosperity in business, everything goes well,
avoid weasels and bring mentors.

According to ancient Myanmar, There was a disciple who worshiped Phra Opakut with food. Not longer then he became a rich man. After that, many disciples would wake up early in the morning to cook for Phra Opakut on every Wednesday.

In earlier time, many temples in northern Thai and Myanmar would make Phra Opakut as a form to attach with disciples and for disciples to worship.

Till now, civilians in Thai are still familiar to Phra Opakut. Disciples who own Phra Opakut can feel its power in attracting wealth and preventing villain.

Phra Opakut in earlier age was made by carved sacred woods like agarwood and sandalwood. Nowadays, the materials to make Phra Opakut are more diverse, including those that are made by metal or holy powder.

On top of Phra Opakut wears the lotus hat. It was said that it was due to Phra Opakut practiced under the sea. When enshrining Phra Opakut, disciples would put a pool of water beneath it. Thus Phra Opakut also known as water making money Buddha.

Phra Opakut is one of three important Buddha statues in Wat Si Dong Moon.
His hand holds a bowl signifying to attract wealth, and hold it tight from flowing.

At the back of it is the facial image of Kruba Noi himself.
