【Efficacious amulets】Everything goes well with Luang Phor Sothorn

 

The Health Department & Kanchana Baramee Foundation had

cooperated to organise a breast cancer screening program in

conjunction with the 60th birthday of Thai King (July 28th BE2555)

and 60th anniversary of Health Department’s establishment.

The program was to help people from remote areas to do

breast x-ray photography(mammography).

Therefore, the Health Department & the foundation planned to

make Luang Phor Sothorn amulets (five sacred edition) to

donate to donors of this breast screening program. The “thi thong”

event was held on May 5th BE2555 (Saturday - “Sao Ha”) in Wat Sothorn.

“Sao Ha” in Thai means May 5th Saturday, which is known as

the best day to make sacred objects by the local. “Sao” in

Thai means Saturn or Saturday. Thais think that Saturn is the most

powerful planet, and it also means Saturday. “Ha” means five in Thai.L

“Thi Thong” is the beginning of making amulet ceremony,

materials like melting gold & gold foil etc.

Dr. Somyot Deerassamee MD, is the director general of the

Department of Health, and Chairman of Kanchana Baramee Foundation.

He said that the first plan 5 years ago was actually to make

Phra Chiang Saen Sing 1 (Picture 1), as this type of amulet is very

beautiful. However, they failed to find a designer and it was canceled then.

Later, Dr Somyot dreamt of him worshiping Luang Phor Sothorn,

and saw number”5” on Luang Phor's body. He recorded down his

dream when he woke up and rang to a friend who is expert in amulets.

He asked about the connection between number 5 and Luang Phor Sothorn.

His friend told him that the number “ 5” representing the five diferrent

deities protecting Luang Phor Sothorn. Dr Somyot thought that was

a good sign and decided to make Luang Phor Sothorn to

predestined people. 

 

“I believe that Luang Phor Sothorn could fulfill ones wish as I had

witnessed its efficacy myself.” Dr Somyot said.
He told that when he was in last year of his senior high school,

he was worried that he could not get in the Faculty of Medicine.

Thus he made a wish to Luang Phor Sothorn. At the end, his wish was

granted. He really got in the faculty. Therefore, he bought  a set of

Thai dancing dolls to Luang Phor Sothorn and pasted 100 bahts

gold foil on it as a return to his wish. He had made a few wishes

whenever he was worried to fail in class.However, he passed the

tests and successfully graduated.

After finishing his work, he would worship Luang Phor Sothorn and

made wishes to see work advancement. Thereafter, there was no

barrier preventing him from work promotion. He even brought

his three children to worship Luang Phor Sothorn when they

were taking exam into medicine faculty. And they were all

succeeded to get in later.

The Luang Phor Sothorn he has was actually picked up from a

roadside when he was on his way home in his student period.

He saw something shining on the road and then he picked it

up back home and washed it. He didn’t know which Buddha was that.

His mother told him that it was 2-sided Luang Phor Sothorn made

in BE2497. He then put it in a casing and wears it till now.

The north Laos people & Thais believe that children who often

get sick and hard to raise up should accept to be adopt child

of Luang Phor Sothorn. They believe that inner part of heart and

strength are important elements. Generally 50% of the patients

would recover naturally through body immunity. But if one with reliance

& strength in heart could recover faster or vice versa.
