With high achievement and fame in government circles, Phumtham has a special hobby in the collection of Buddha amulets and sacred objects, part of which were received from his mother and some celebrities.
He recalled that in his childhood, his mother often had him wear Buddha amulets for more protection, but he, as a naughty boy, lost two amulets. After knowing the two lost Buddha amulets, handed down from his grand-mother, belonged to the hugely famous "Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang", he felt deeply regret for losing them.
Phumtham said his mother gave him some amulets likePhra Rod, Phra Somdej, and Luang Pu Thuat amulets, and exhorted him to preserve them well. She also hooped five amulets into one necklace to have him put on, only to be refused by him for the necklace was very valuable and seemed an odd fit.
Though not wearing Buddha amulets often, Phumtham would certainly keep them well-preserved because these meaningful amulets make him reminded of his loving mother and other seniors who gave amulets to him.
The Buddha amulet Phumtham carries around often is "Phra Phong Supan (backside: King Naresuan)", one amulet well-known for the effect in the prosperity of careers. Received from a venerable senior, this Buddha amulet has been with him for so many years and offered great protection. While feeling upset or depressed, Phumtham will grasp the amulet and chant scriptures to help himself feel more peaceful.

Phra Phong Supan
As a pious Buddhist disciple, Phumtham has a moral attitude towards everything, studies Buddhism in leisure time, and earnestly suggestsyoungsters that they be full of gratitude and able to differentiate between good and evil. He also mentioned that he will chant scriptures before going out and going to bed, and go to temples with his family members for donations in his free time or on important Buddhist festivals.
Noting the opinion of wearing Buddha amulets, he added that the key point lies in whether a person has a good mind or not. Those who get involved with wrongdoings won't be blessed by Buddha amulets; on the other hand, those of great honesty and kind-heartedness will be granted good fortunes in every aspect of life thanks to the mercy of Buddha amulets.
