Master: Luang Phor Chuchat (หลวงพ่อชูชาติ)
Temple: Wat Rachathiwat Ratchaworawihara (วัดราชาธิวาสวิหาร)
Wat Rachathiwat Ratchaworawihara also referred to Wat Raja. It is an ancient temple situated at the river bank of Chao Phraya River. The original name of Wat Raja was Wat Samorrai. When King Rama IV was a monk, he resided at this temple. He had given a new name to the temple later as Wat Rachathiwat Ratchaworawihara which is also the current name of the temple. The temple is cool and shady as befitting its history as a forest retreat.
The temple was already old and in poor condition during the reign of King Rama V. Thus the King has ordered his brother Prince Narissaranuwattiwong to reconstruct the temple but retain the murals in the ubosot’s wall. The murals were from Europe Buon fresco technique, drawing the story of Maha Wetsandon Chadok. The prince prepared the drafts while the drawing was done by Mr C. Rigole from Italy.
