Temple Name: Wat Bangnamchon (Thai: วัดบางน้ำชน)
Guru Monk: Luang Phor Jump Nong

It is estimated that Wat Bangnamchon, Thon Buri, Bangkok, was built about 200 years ago during the period of Ayutthaya Kingdom, whose art style is visible in the architecture of the phra ubosot: its wall was built by laying large bricks, without the holding of reinforcing bar and beam; the phra ubosot neighbors the vihara; "pa lai" (a kind of eave) stretches from the rooftop.

The main Buddha statue in the phra ubosot was built with teak frames and concrete structures, and the Buddha face displays the influence of Sukhothai art style.

Wat Bangnamchon was a private temple and in 2357 BE the king sanctioned the temple's exclusive use for Buddhism. The phra ubosot is 10 m wide, 20 m long, and 10 m long. Its main Buddha "Phra Buddha Chaksri," also called Luang Phor Khom or Luang Phor To, is the largest main Buddha statue in that area.

The name of Wat Bangnamchon derives from the temple's geological location that it was built near the confluence of Chao Phraya River and Khlong Talad Plu. In earlier times Wat Bangnamchon was also called "Wat Pak Khlong" for the word Pak Khlong means river mouth in Thai.
