Wat Phra Phiren (Thai: วัดพระพิเรนทร์), in Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok, is an ancient temple assumedly built in the period of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

In the reign of King Rama III, Phra Phirentorodhep (Kham Na Ratchasima), head of police department, restored the temple and built 12 residences for monks. King Rama III named the temple "Wat Kham Khemakaram".

In 2411 BE (AD 1868), the temple was changed to "Wat Khem Korat" by King Rama IV. In 2430 BE (AD 1887), the temple was renamed "Wat Phra Phiren" in honor of the renevator Phra Phirentorodhep.

The "Chofa" (Thai: ช่อฟ้า, gable apex) on the roof of the ubosot, and and the "Bairaka" (Thai: ใบระกา, ridges on the sloping edges of a gable) are both Naga-head-shaped, a distinguishable feature different from those counterparts in other temples.

Luang Phor Dam, the principal Buddha image of the vihara, is an ancient and efficacious Buddha image worshipped by whoever visiting Wat Phra Phiren. Legend has it that the former abbot Phra Thep Kunatharn dreamed of a black Buddha statue hidden near the bodhi tree behind the ubosot and in reality he did find the definietely same statue as the one in the dream.
