【Efficacious Amulets】Safe and Sound Forever

Napat Sukjit, the Deputy Secretary of Defense in Thailand, keeps himself up-to-date and meanwhile remains a pious Buddhist. As a child, his parents had him cultivate the habit of going to temples to worship and make offerings to monks in his free time.

He is particularly fond of Buddha amulets collection, devoting his leisure time to looking into related information and examining amulets with a magnifier.

Only after the seniors and his friends introduced the beauty of Buddha amulets, recalled Napat, that did he begin the study of amulets. Having studied amulets for over 20 years,
he has a wide understanding of the materials for making them, such as coins, holy soils, metals, Wan(an herb), etc. He said Buddha amulets collection, like potted plant collection, can be taken as a hobby.

Napat said that Buddha amulets and Thailand life are closely linked together; the amulets always accompany Thais, who are pious Buddhists and place Buddhist altars almost in every family. Buddha amulet is a kind of traditional art treasured not only by Thais but also by people in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia, all of whom are enthusiastic about enshrining amulets.

Napat generally wears the standing-position Luang Por Mui amulet of Wat Donrai, Suphan Buri Province.

The Luang Por Mui amulet, given by his seniors 20 years ago, was the only amulet Napat wears. Gaining more knowledge about Luang Por Mui, Napat found that he is a master of kindheartedness and eager to study. He learned magical skills from numerous other masters, including monks and ordinary people who bore excellent skills. Luang Por Mui is notable for the cure of many disciples with Traditional Thai medicine.

Since wearing Luang Por Mui amulet 20 years ago, Napat said, he has frequently met good things. Those who wear Buddha amulets believe that if doing good deeds based on Buddhist teachings, they will be surrounded by the mercy of Buddha, work smoothly, and get along well with seniors. "Before going out, I will worship Luang Por Mui for safety and good things," he said. "After returning home, I chant scriptures and make wishes. I live as a typical Buddhist."
Napat insists on Buddha's disciplines and good deeds. By chanting Buddha scriptures,
he has a clear mind, becomes prudent to all aspects of his life, and lives serenely.
