Even though being fond of the collection of Buddha amulets and other sacred objects and having published a book The Best Takrut Collection of Thailand, he remains humble in that he said he is not good at examining Buddha amulets and that he would consult with many others about the enshrinement of amulets.

With
regard to the book The Best Takrut
Collection of Thailand, he indicated that it had taken him lots of time to
study related information, collect famous takruts of each Province and select
the best ones. He must search for advices from experts and famous people to
certify the genuineness of takruts, which own individual characteristics; for
example, the takrut of Luang Phor Ngen Wat Bangklan in Phichit Province, which
was possessed by and borrowed for taking pictures from the movie star Pongpat
Wachirabunjong, was made of copper, lead, deer leather and muntjac leather.
He said
his interest in collecting and wearing Buddha amulets began after he, at that
time a deputy police chief, saw others wear amulets, though himself still not
knowing what kind of amulets he should choose to wear. He preferred metal
amulets to powder ones because of the vulnerability of powder amulets.
The
amulets Pol Gen Preawpand wears most frequently are three facial-image amulets:
Luang Phor Ta Wat Phra Niang Taek, Luang Phor Plai Wat Kam Phaeg of Bang Khun
Thian District, 2478 BE, and the upgraded Luang Pu Thuat Wat Changhai.
He said
amulets of Luang Phor Ta and Luang Phor Plai are targeted at death proof, while
that of Luang Pu Thua the prevention of misfortune, smoother career, and the
promotion. He also said he doesn't and needs not to collect the whole set of
"Benjapakee" (meaning "set of 5 important amulets"), which
is of high price and coveted by amulet connoisseurs. Only those amulets he
likes will he collect. Concerning the efficaciousness of Buddha amulets, he
said, he, only having heard about it, doesn't yet have personal experience.
