【Efficacious Amulets】Survive and Thrive

Nanfah Kalasin, a Thai modern folk singer, is well-known all over Thailand for his album Phak jai pai kub nok, meaning "Delivered by Bird, My Heart to You."

Nanfah graduated from the Department of Drama at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. The whole family members Buddhists, he as a child often went to temples with his parents to do good deeds and be immersed in the Buddhism teachings of kind-heartedness, benevolence, and sympathy.

He had accumulated performance experiences by learning from Mr. Patravadi Mechuthon (Teacher Lek) when working in Bangkok's Patravadi Theater. Later he auditioned in several record companies only to be turned back. He didn't give up and finally came to Dang Dang, a folk-song company. Although his first audition request was rejected, Nanfah was still confident in his ability and once again recommended himself to the company, which felt his determination and gave the chance of audition to him; Nanfah, as a result, became a singer.

Singing throughout Thailand, he was once glad to receive from his fan a Luang Pu Thuat amulet, which was put into a case and put on by him. Despite not a connoisseur, he remains his liking to Buddha amulets sent by his fans, preserves them well, and appreciates them in his free time. He likes wearing Luang Pu Thuat amulet and Luang Phor Poon Wat Pailom amulet.

Noting the efficaciousness of Buddha amulets, Nanfah added that one day he was told that he might have bad fortunes and death. When reaching a railroad crossing in the intersection in Dong Muang, he didn't notice the boom barriers were put down and kept walking. If it had not been a car horn reminding him to leave, he might have died and had no chance to share this story. He believed his safety should be attributed to the blessings of Buddha amulets.

Additionally, he was so afraid of ghosts that when he had concerts in other provinces and had to live in the hotel there, he always turned on the lights and the TV before going to bed. After wearing Buddha amulets, and by chanting scriptures and placing the amulet on the head of the bed, he falls asleep easily since then.
