【Thai Monks】Kruba Krissana

On Sunday, August 1, BE2497, Kruba Krissana was born the 9th children of his family in Nonsung district, Nakhonratchasima. His family had been known for excellent medical skills, and his parents were traditional doctors.

His parents diagonosed the patients in their own backyard. Thanks to it, he had learned pharmaceutics, traditional prescription and magic. As time passed, he practiced and became a white robe master. He practiced Brahman dharma alone in the forest, studying medical skills passed down from ancestors. After finishing the practice, he went to Myanmar and looked for other Krubas or Achans to learn more. He went back to Thailand when he was at the intermediate level.

Because he didn’t think of getting and establishing his own career, he decided to be a monk. On October 27, BE2522, he did in Wat Kokwuthong of Pho ngam town, Prachantakham district, Prachinburi. The ceremony was held by Luang Phor Ked, the abbot of Wat Kokwuthong, and master Gonealo and master Fan served as the chairman and certifier.

From his becoming a monk to advancing to a senior one, he had been keeping resorting to other Krubas or Achans for directions. Then he went to remote mountains to search unknown answers. If nothing still could be found, he would head for Cambodia to look for other magic to solve difficult problems. After coming back to Thailand, he lived in remote mountains in Chanthaburi.

In BE2532, he practiced in remote mountains in Khonburi district, Nakhonratchasima. Gradually, local residents went to visit him after knowing he would stay there and practice. His status was established. People began to settle in Khonburi district and built meditation rooms to worship. Wat Weruwan was formally founded in BE2536.

The temple-building process:
BE2539 — a 5-rai meditation room was built in Samakkhi town, Wangnamkheo district, Nakhonratchasima.
[A rai is a unit of area, equal to 1,600 square metres (40 m × 40 m)]

BE2545 — the 46-rai self-owned temple was built.
There are farmlands at the rear of the temple.
